Items are values you provide to meet customers' needs. They are of two types: products and services. Products are tangible items like bags, foodstuffs, jewelry, etc. while services are values provided by intangible skills like consulting, web design, barbing, dry cleaning, etc. You can add a totally new item or update the quantity in stock of a particular product.
Here is a brief guide on how to manually add an item to your inventory.
Steps in adding an item manually to your inventory:

Click on the "Add Item" button and enter the details of the item you want to add to your inventory.

You would also be required to enter the "Item name", which is the name of the product you sell or service you offer.

It is essential to choose the “Currency” in which the price of the item will be recorded. You can only select from the list of currencies that your business currently operates with.

You MUST select the type of item you offer by categorizing it into a physical (product) or intangible thing (service).

You can also enter the “Item description” to contain detailed information about the product or service.

You can also enter the “Unit” which measures the product or service you offer. Example: For 6 litres of diesel - litres would be the unit.

You can enter the number of the unit of the particular item you are adding to your inventory as "Stock".

You can enter the amount you bought a particular unit of that product to sell which is the cost price.

You MUST also enter the price you want to sell that particular product or service as “Sales price”.
Click on "Save" and the item would be added to the record.
