Composite items represent finished goods produced from raw materials. In Tyms, production orders manage the manufacturing process, calculate costs, and update inventory automatically.

1. Create a Composite Item
Navigate to the Inventory module.
Select Composite Items, and click on New.
You will see two options: Composite Item and Production Order.
Select Composite Item.
Enter Composite Item Details:
Name: Name of the finished product
SKU: Unique identifier
Shelf Life: If applicable
Unit: Unit of the finished item (e.g., Kg, cartons)
Tax: Applicable tax (if any)
Selling Price: Default selling price
Revenue Account: Income account for sales
Cost of Goods Sold Account: Default COGS account
Description: Optional
Add Raw Materials to the Composite Item
In the item section, select a raw material
Enter Quantity per Unit : the amount required to produce one unit of the composite item
Review the Rate and Amount per Unit
Repeat for all required raw materials
Tyms automatically calculates the total production cost per unit.
Click Save once completed.
2. Create a Production Order
Production orders are used to manufacture composite items.
Navigate to Production Orders
Click New → Production Order
Select the composite item to produce
The system automatically populates the required raw materials based on the composite item setup.
Enter the quantity of composite items to produce
Tyms validates raw material availability and notifies you if stock is insufficient.
Add Additional Production Costs (Optional). You can include: Overhead costs, Direct expenses
Enter the additional cost amounts. If a deposit has already been made, record the amount paid, any outstanding balance is recorded in Accounts Payable.
Optionally, select Add to Cost of Goods Sold to post costs directly to COGS
Tyms automatically posts entries to the relevant accounts.
Save the production order as: Pending, or Work in Progress
When production is completed, update the status to Finished Goods. This finalizes the production process.
